Focus: Growing in a genuine relationship with God through love, trust, obedience, humility and faith
Walking with God is more than attending church, carrying a Christian title or practising religion. It is a daily relationship with your Maker.
Enoch walked with God so closely that God took him. His life shows that it is possible to please God, grow with God and live in a way that reflects deep fellowship with Him.
God is not calling you to remain where He found you. He receives you by grace, but He continues to polish, cleanse, guide and transform you through His Word and Spirit.
God’s Word gives light. When His Word enters your life, darkness must give way. Psalm 119:130 says the entrance of His words gives light and understanding to the simple.
That is why your walk with God must be built on His Word. His Word guides, corrects, protects and illuminates the path before you. Psalm 119:105 declares that God’s Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.
The life of Enoch shows what it means to walk with God. Genesis 5:24 says, “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” Enoch’s relationship with God was so pleasing that God took him.
Walking with God simply means living in genuine relationship with your Maker. It is not about practising empty religion. Christianity may be listed among world religions, but for the believer, Christianity is relationship.
Religion can leave a person unchanged, but relationship with Christ transforms. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
God receives you the way you are, but He does not leave you the way you are. He accepts you by grace, then begins to polish you through His Word, His Spirit and His dealings. Where you were as a young believer last year should not be where you remain today.
You are called to grow. You are called to progress. You are called to become more like Christ.
God told Abraham in Genesis 17:1, “Walk before Me and be blameless.” This means it is possible to walk before God in a way that pleases Him. God will not give His people an instruction that His grace cannot help them fulfil.
This kind of walk is not achieved by human strength. You cannot perfect yourself by self-effort. 1 Samuel 2:9 reminds us that by strength no man shall prevail. You need the Holy Spirit. You need grace. You need Christ working in you.
Your righteousness is found in Christ, not in self-righteousness. Human effort alone will fail, but the grace of God is sufficient.
You live in a world where sin has been made to look normal. Wrong things are now celebrated. Bad character can become common. Temptation is not far away; it often stands at the doorstep. This is why your walk with God must be intentional.
To walk with God, you must love Him above everything. No achievement, position, possession, status or personal ambition must become greater than God in your heart.
When you love God above everything, you acknowledge that He owns everything. Your life, strength, gifts, career, family and future all come from Him.
You also need faith. Before you take a step, learn to release everything to God. Even when you think you have the ability, still return to Him and say, “Lord, I cannot do this without You.”
That is the secret of depending on God.
You must remain in the ICU of God’s grace. In an intensive care unit, the patient receives constant attention because life depends on continuous care. In the same way, never detach yourself from God’s constant help. Do not graduate yourself from dependence on Him.
The moment you begin to think you can manage life without God, you are stepping away from the place of grace. Pride is one of the fastest ways to disconnect from divine help.
James 4:6 says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” A proud person is already saying, “I can do this by myself.” But the humble person says, “Lord, I need You every moment.”
To walk with God, you must trust Him completely. Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”
Trust means you stop making your own understanding the final authority. You may have experience, training, education or resources, but God must still be the One you depend on.
Psalm 50:15 says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” God wants you to trust Him in your time of trouble. He wants to rescue you and receive the glory.
Trust must lead to obedience. You cannot truly trust God and continually disobey Him. Sometimes His instructions may not make sense to your natural mind, but obedience is the evidence of trust.
Do not offer God partial obedience. Walk with Him in complete obedience.
You must also keep your heart tender before God. Do not live in a way that angers or displeases Him. If you fall, return quickly in repentance. You have an Advocate in Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:1 says that if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
This is not an excuse to continue in sin. It is an invitation to return quickly to God, confess your fault and receive mercy.
If you want a deeper walk with God, submit everything to Him. James 4:7 says, “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Submission means placing your plans, desires, decisions, weaknesses and future under God’s authority.
You must also admit your weaknesses. Nobody is a superman. Everyone has areas where they need grace. Pretending that you have no weakness only gives the enemy more room to operate.
Satan often feeds on hidden weakness. He uses unconfessed weakness as a point of entry. If your weakness is lying, bring it to God. If it is anger, lust, backbiting, pride, fear or bitterness, bring it to God. Do not hide it in darkness.
The day you expose a weakness before God is the day that weakness begins to lose power over you.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Strength begins when you stop pretending and start depending on God.
Finally, believe the promises of God. God is not a man that He should lie. Numbers 23:19 reminds us that what God says, He will do.
Whatever God has spoken concerning your life, hold on to it. Whatever He has promised in His Word, believe it. Whatever prophecy aligns with His will and Word, wait for it with faith.
Habakkuk 2:2–3 says the vision is for an appointed time. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come.
God is never late. He may not work according to your timetable, but He always works according to His purpose. Lazarus had been dead for four days when Jesus arrived, yet Jesus still proved that delay is not defeat. See John 11:1–44.
Do not destroy yourself before the problem expires. Anything that has a beginning can have an end. Only God is eternal. Every challenge, affliction, delay and battle in your life has an expiry date before the God who rules over time and seasons.
Keep walking with God. Keep trusting Him. Keep obeying Him. Keep submitting to Him. Keep believing His promises.
The grace to walk before God and be perfect is available to you.
Walking with God is not empty religion.
It is a living relationship with the One who made you, saved you and continues to transform you. God wants your heart, not just your religious activity.
Religion may leave you where you are, but relationship with Christ changes you.
Jesus receives you by mercy, then begins to transform your life through His Word and Spirit.
God says, “Come,” but He also says, “Grow.”
The same grace that receives you also polishes you. You must not remain the same person you were when you first came to Christ.
God told Abraham to walk before Him and be blameless.
That instruction shows that God can help His people live in a way that pleases Him. The standard is high, but His grace is sufficient.
You cannot walk perfectly with God by human strength alone.
You need the Holy Spirit, the grace of God and the righteousness that comes through Christ Jesus.
To walk with God, He must be above every achievement, ambition, possession and relationship.
When God is first, every other part of life finds its proper place.
Even when you feel capable, still commit the matter to God.
Faith says, “Lord, I need You.” It refuses to treat God as optional.
Never detach yourself from dependence on God.
Just as a patient in intensive care receives constant attention, your soul must remain under the constant care, grace and guidance of God.
Pride tells God, “I can do it by myself.”
Humility says, “Lord, without You I can do nothing.” God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Do not lean on your own understanding.
Your education, experience and intelligence are useful, but they must never replace trust in God.
True trust produces obedience.
If you trust God, you will obey Him even when His instruction does not fit your personal preference.
Do not remain in sin because you have fallen.
Jesus is your Advocate. Run back to God in repentance, receive mercy and continue the walk with Him.
Submission means placing every part of your life under God’s authority.
Your plans, fears, desires, weaknesses, decisions and future must all come under His Lordship.
Do not pretend to be stronger than you are.
Bring your weaknesses into the light before God. The weakness you expose to God in prayer begins to lose its power.
The enemy often attacks through areas people refuse to admit.
Do not hide your weakness in darkness. Confess it to God, ask for help and receive grace to overcome.
God’s promises are trustworthy.
What He has spoken will come to pass. Hold on to His Word, even when the physical manifestation has not yet appeared.
God does not work according to human panic.
He holds times and seasons in His hand. What looks late to man is still under divine control.
Only God is eternal.
If a problem had a beginning, God can bring it to an end. Do not give up before your testimony arrives.
Father, thank You for Your Word that gives light and understanding.
Psalm 119:130
Lord, help me to walk with You in genuine relationship, not empty religion.
Father, polish me, cleanse me and transform me by Your Word and Spirit.
Lord, give me grace to walk before You and be blameless.
Genesis 17:1
Father, help me to love You above everything in my life.

Father, remind me that You are never late.
Lord, bring every challenge, affliction and delay in my life to its expiry date.
Father, give me grace to walk with You faithfully until the end.
May the Lord give you grace to walk with Him in truth, humility and obedience.
You will not practise empty religion. Your life will reflect genuine relationship with God. The Word of God will guide you, protect you, correct you and illuminate every dark path before you.
You will not detach yourself from the grace of God. Pride will not remove you from the place of divine help. The Lord will keep you humble, dependent and strengthened by His Spirit.
Every weakness you bring before God will lose its power over you. Every hidden battle will receive divine help. The grace of God will be sufficient for you.
You will trust the Lord with all your heart. You will obey His instructions. You will believe His promises, and you will not give up before the appointed time.
Every challenge with a beginning will receive an end. Every delay will expire. Every battle will bow before the God who is never late.
You will walk before God, and your walk with Him will please Him.
