Sermon Key Moments

Sermon Summary

The message opens with thanksgiving to God for what He has done, what He is doing and what He will yet do in RCCG Overcomers House Gloucester.

The preacher congratulates the church family on the 20th anniversary of God’s faithfulness and gives appreciation to the pastor, his wife, the leadership and the entire church family. The anniversary is presented as a testimony of God’s grace, mercy and help from humble beginnings to the present day.

The congregation is then led into thanksgiving, acknowledging God for the children, teenagers, young people, men, women, elders, workforce, ministers and the pastor. The church is encouraged to look back and recognise that it could not have come this far without the mercy and grace of God.

The central theme of the message is Great Is Thy Faithfulness, drawn from Lamentations 3:22–23. The passage teaches that God’s mercies are new every morning and that His faithfulness is great.

The sermon explains that knowing God helps us relate with Him better. Just as understanding is important in marriage, friendship and working relationships, believers must grow in their understanding of God’s nature. Ignorance can disturb relationships, but revelation strengthens trust.

The preacher then explains the meaning of God’s faithfulness. Faithfulness speaks of dependability, trustworthiness and the ability to be trusted. God has brought the church this far because He is dependable and reliable.

Revelation 19:11 describes Christ as Faithful and True. This means that faithfulness is not merely something God does; it is part of who He is.

The message also draws from Psalm 92:1–2, which encourages believers to give thanks to the Lord and declare His lovingkindness and faithfulness. Thanksgiving is therefore a proper response to God’s faithfulness.

Psalm 89:1 is also used to show that God’s faithfulness must be declared to all generations. A 20th anniversary is not only a moment to remember privately; it is a public testimony that God has kept His people.

The sermon then teaches that God is faithful because He cannot change. Malachi 3:6 declares that the Lord does not change, and Hebrews 13:8 declares that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Human beings can change, grow, improve or fail, but God remains constant. His unchanging nature is what makes Him reliable. Because God does not change, His people can build their hope, dreams and future upon Him.

The preacher describes God’s faithfulness as permanent. Like a fixed pillar that holds a swinging door, God remains steady even when circumstances move. Doors may open and close, seasons may change, but God remains the secure foundation upon which His people can depend.

James 1:17 teaches that with God there is no variation or shadow of turning. This means that God’s commitment, loyalty, love and devotion to His children remain sure.

The message then emphasises that every generation has the right to experience God’s faithfulness. Psalm 119:90 declares that God’s faithfulness endures to all generations.

As God was faithful to the fathers, He will be faithful to the sons. As He was faithful to the mothers, He will be faithful to the daughters. The same God who sustained RCCG Overcomers House Gloucester for 20 years will continue to show His faithfulness in the years ahead.

The sermon then turns to Numbers 23:19, which declares that God is not a man that He should lie. If God has spoken, He will perform it.

This leads to a powerful teaching on the faithfulness of God’s Word. The preacher declares that the Word of God has sustained, guided and kept the church for 20 years. The same Word remains unfailing and unchanging.

Joshua 21:45 is then used as a prophetic assurance: not one word failed of every good thing God spoke to Israel; all came to pass. In the same way, every promise of God over His people and over the church will come to pass.

The message encourages believers to hold fast without wavering because God is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 reminds us that the One who promised is faithful.

Even when circumstances appear delayed, restricted or resisted, God’s promises remain alive. Every pending promise and prophecy can be activated by faith in the God who cannot fail.

The sermon also highlights 2 Timothy 2:13, which teaches that even if we are faithless, God remains faithful because He cannot deny Himself.

This means that God’s faithfulness is not fragile. It does not depend on changing human emotions or unstable circumstances. What God says He will do is already settled in His nature and His Word.

The preacher then declares that God’s Word is God’s finished work. When God releases a word, it is an indication that the work has already been completed in His purpose. Believers are therefore encouraged to believe and receive according to His Word.

The example of Sarah is used from Hebrews 11:11. Although she was past the age of childbearing, she received strength to conceive because she judged Him faithful who had promised.

The church is then called to judge God faithful. Based on His track record, His past goodness, His preservation and His visible hand upon the house, the proper verdict is that God is faithful.

The sermon concludes with prayer that RCCG Overcomers House Gloucester will enter higher dimensions of God’s faithfulness in the years ahead.

A declaration is made from Psalm 89:24, that God’s faithfulness and mercy will be with His people and that their horn will be exalted in His name.

The final blessing declares healing, deliverance, open doors, fulfilment of promises and the assurance that not one word of all God has spoken will fail.
